When we arrived at the Belmond Résidence d’Angkor I was so captivated by all of the small details that had gone into creating this place. From the art on the walls, to the flowers and warmth of the staff, everything was spot on.
This luxury 5 star hotel is conveniently located on the river just moments away from the buzz of Siem Reap, a short walk from quirky bars, restaurants and majestic ancient temples.
The rooms are thoughtfully designed with a spacious bathroom and living area. This bed is the biggest and most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in; a good nights sleep is guaranteed here in this luxurious yet homely suite. I can’t fault this room, it’s both stylish and comfortable.
The Belmod Résidence d’Angkor has so many hidden surprises located all around the hotel grounds. My personal favourite is the Boules area. We got a little carried away and ended up having far too much fun and far too many games. If you’re feeling adventurous you can spend some time marvelling over the resorts very own bee hive.
One of the most striking things about this hotel is the saltwater pool. The pool is surrounded by lush greenery. The perfect place to grab a drink or an ice cream and enjoy the spectacular Cambodian sun.
Lets talk about food, one of my favourite things to talk about and one of the main reasons I love to travel. The moment we stepped into the breakfast area on our first morning we were so delighted to see vegan options, they even had the choice of soy milk, vegan spreads, fruit and cooked breakfasts. There are options for everybody.
Whilst learning about this beautiful hotel we were lucky enough to spend some time speaking with the chef, his knowledge about the history of the hotel, the food and culture of the country were outstanding. No wonder The Belmond Résidence d’Angkor produces such incredible delicacies.
This certainly was a few days that I will never forget.
